London-based and globally renowned architect Asif Khan became the 16th architect to join the playful and prestigious Architecture for Dogs project with ‘I see you !’. Created for dogs with black fur, Khan’s contribution is a cosy carpeted structure for a dog to explore from the ground up, crafted from many layers of black sheep wool using age-old felting techniques.

In this online event Asif Khan is joined in conversation by leading Japanese designer and Architecture for Dogs exhibition director Hara Kenya to discuss the inspiration for and development of this brand-new piece and how it fits into Khan’s distinguished and varied body of work. Having founded his architecture office in East London in 2007, Khan has worked internationally on a wide range of high-profile projects including the award-winning UK Pavilion at Astana Expo 2017, the Hyundai Pavilion at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics (‘the blackest building on Earth’) and the design for the new Museum of London at Smithfield Market currently under construction.

There will be an opportunity for selected registered guests to ask questions to the speakers during this live online event.

This event is held online only.

See the exhibition Architecture for Dogs in the Japan House Gallery from 19 September 2020 until 10 January 2021.
