Cross Laminated Timber has been increasing in popularity as a material within construction methods, for its sustainable properties. CLT has the adaptability to be used at scale and in short time frames, making it advantageous to the growing needs of the UK building and housing market. However, although this material isn’t relatively new, its many benefits and challenges are not widely understood yet by the industry and further research is important to utilise the benefits of this material. What are some of the issues surrounding insurance and CLT? How is this material being used across disciplines from facade to infrastructure? What research needs to be done to ensure these materials benefits are disseminated at a global scale?
