Dow Jones Architects were established by Alun Jones and Biba Dow in London in 2000. The practice has an international reputation and has won numerous awards for their work, including, a 2021 RIBA National Award for their Maggie’s Centre in Cardiff.

The broad portfolio of the practice includes a series of remarkable projects set within and alongside existing buildings in London, including the transformation of the Garden Museum, the renovation of the crypt of Hawksmoor’s Christ Church Spitalfields and, more recently, Grand Junction, a new community space for St Mary Magdalene in Paddington. In addition to these notable heritage projects the practice has completed a series of private houses which have also extended and amplified existing architecture.

**This talk will takes place at the ACAVA Faroe Road Studios which are around the corner from our usual venue, the offices of Jonathan Tuckey Design.**

Building on the Built

About Building on the Built is a programme of talks, hosted by Jonathan Tuckey Design, which aims to promote the topic of architectural work connected with existing structures and, more specifically, to look at work that might challenge the way in which work on existing structures is approached today. Building on the Built aims to focus on work that celebrates an alternative to pure architecture, work that is evolving, mongrel and collaborative with time. Previous speakers have included, Roz Barr Architects, McCollough Mulvin Architects, Henley Halebrown Architects, Office MMX and Slovenian practice Ambient and the author Fred Scott. In parallel to our programme of talks, we publish articles, texts and images on our website that act as an accompanying archive. The archive includes architectural projects, photographic investigations and other artistic responses to built work. We welcome submission ideas and possible collaborations.
