Join volunteers and staff who are digitising over one million photographs of architecture and design in the Courtauld's Conway Library.

This event will explore “Layers of London” in the Conway. Although you can’t visit us at Somerset House at the moment, you can experience our collection as a virtual talking library.

You’ll hear short stories and presentations from our Conway Storyteller volunteers inspired by photographs of London places in our collection. Our Storytellers will be your guides to seeing familiar London landmarks in a new light!

This evening is inspired by the “Layers of London” project, directed by Professor Matthew Davies and hosted by the Institute of Historical Research. On Layers of London, you can explore hundreds of photos from the Courtauld, other libraries, and shared by individuals. You can also share your own photos and memories!

There will be plenty of time for questions, and you’ll gain an insight into the most ambitious photographic digitisation project in the UK, along with the fabulous Layers of London website.

About our storytellers... and more to be announced!
