Constructed from 30+ cardboard element sand painted in layers of pigment and varnish, these pieces are suggestive of screens, altars, columns, archways and even buttresses. The placement of each component choreographs our movement(s) around the gallery as we are invited to step over, step through and walk around the horizontal and vertical groups of sculpture. Each sculpture operates both individually and also as a playful component. Over the course of the show Jonathan will be moving the sculptural components around to create 2 or more versions of the show.
