As part of LFA's programme of events HTA is hosting a In Common: Differing Impacts of Climate Change at its new Wallis Road studio.
The panel is cross disciplinary and speakers have been selected for their unique perspectives, research and activism in climate change and equality. Shawn Adams, Outreach Lead at HTA, will be facilitating the conversation and is joined by:
• Journalist and documentary filmmaker Leah Borromeo. Currently covering the decarbonisation and decolonisation in the arts using the Venice Architecture Biennale as a launchpad for conversations about adaptation and sustainability in the built environment
• Climate justice campaigner, facilitator and organiser, Simmone Ahiakuhas worked on air pollution, divestment and climate justice campaigns. She currently uses facilitated workshops to explore climate colonialism, and examples of climate resistance and movements from the past and present day. Simmone is currently an organiser at The London Renters Union
• Zamzam Ibrahim, a British-Somali activist who has spent the past decade representing students and young people, advocating on various causes related to social justice, education, and the environment
In 2023 communities across the global south are more likely to experience natural disaster and climate change injustice due to the practices of the western world. HTA opens this subject to an expert guest panel to expand on the nuances of climate inequality and provide new ways of challenging accepted practices within architecture and wider industry. The panel promises to provide a forward-thinking and informative dialogue which offers much needed new perspectives.
Thank you to Bianca, Shawn and the Marketing team for organising what will be a really interesting discussion.
