Much of London's history is enshrined in books and journals; words and pictures.

But maps can tell a story in a uniquely powerful and succinct way. In this wide-ranging talk, Matt Brown will share his love of maps, and particularly how they can be used to illuminate London's history and culture -- from a retrospective map of Anglo-Saxon London, to a digital chart of wartime rocket strikes, to a map of a London that never got built and a map of fictional London.

The London Society

About The Society is for all those who love London. It was founded in 1912 by a group of influential Londoners concerned about the lack of planning for the future of the capital. Early members included architects, planners and engineers alongside politicians and artists. They came from a range of backgrounds and many would go on to shape Britain during the century that followed. The Society's motto is - Valuing the past; looking to the future!
