Pi Park

In St James’s Market, Pi Park takes visitors on an inspirational journey through biomimetic architecture and micro-scale precision engineering, brought to life through the latest developments in additive manufacturing and creative technologies.

A collaboration between researchers and students from the Fabrication Lab at the University of Westminster and the SHED at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, it brings together a digitally fabricated, steam-bent timber gazebo with a series of interactive 3D-printed concrete sculptures and an exhibition of cutting-edge technological artefacts realised through 3D-printing and visualised through augmented reality. Linked to London Festival of Architecture’s 2024 theme, ‘Reimagine’, the installation invites West End visitors to re-envision the world through the promise and alternative realities next-generation technologies offer.

Created in partnership with The Crown Estate, Heart of London Business Alliance, Westminster City Council and London Festival of Architecture, Pi Park will host a series of creative-making workshops between 6th June to 28th June on the theme of Pi so everyone can try their hand at making something for themselves, reimagining the famous mathematical construct in creative ways as ceramic Pi(e) Pots, kinetic Pi Bots, or digital Pi Bits.
