How have public realm activation projects contributed to shaping London's urban landscape in the last 20 years?

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the London Festival of Architecture, the publication, ‘Public London: Activating the City’ will look back at some of the momentous projects of the last two decades that have helped transform London’s public realm and consider how the festival has elevated public places through cultural placemaking, place activation and meanwhile uses.

What constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today? What role can co-creation and partnerships? And how can we ensure that places are fit-for-purpose in the long-term?

In this conference we will explore how cultural activation projects have contributed to shaping London's urban landscape in the last 20 years, looking at best practice in public realm activation and discuss what the next 20 years will bring.
