The RIBA+VitrA Summer Season of talks opens with the chance to hear from one of the UK's most versatile designers, Nigel Coates. Nigel’s work has consistently challenged the meaning of architecture and the object. His mission is to bring equal parts of art and intelligence to architecture and design; whatever the space or the object, Nigel fills it with passion, irony and instinct. Formerly the Head of Architecture at the Royal College of Art, London, he is now a leading light of the London School of Architecture.

June 2022 sees the publication of Nigel’s warm and compelling autobiography, Lives in Architecture: Nigel Coates (published by RIBA Publishing) where he explores the highs and lows of life at the cutting edge of architecture and design.

Simon Allford, co-founder and director of AHMM, and current president of the Royal Institute of British Architects, will be introducing the lecture. After the talk, Nigel will be in conversation with Iwona Blazwick OBE, Curator Emeritus of the Whitechapel Gallery. This will be followed by an opportunity for audience questions.
