On 16 June 2021, the UK Government announced its intention to extend measures to protect tenants from eviction by a further 9 months until 25 March 2022. These measures form part of the emergency Coronavirus Act 2020 which was enacted on 25 March 2020.

The extension was triggered to allow sectors who have remained unable to open due to COVID restrictions to negotiate agreements with landlords without the threat of eviction.

Sections 82 and 83 of the Coronavirus Act originally imposed a three-month moratorium for non-payment of rent for commercial property across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. However, as the extension brings concern for commercial landlords, this webinar delivers legal guidance around recovering outstanding rent, protecting cashflows, next steps and key considerations for commercial property landlords.

Speaker:

David is a Director in the Real Estate Litigation Team at Walker Morris, and his practice is in all aspects of contentious property and landlord and tenant law (including opposed lease renewals, dilapidations, break clauses, tenant insolvency and rent review) but with a particular emphasis on real property/development work, including easements, restrictive covenants, mines and minerals and rights of light.
