The exhibition MAKING NUNO Japanese Textile Innovation from Sudō Reiko currently on display at Japan House has been produced in collaboration with the Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile (CHAT) in Hong Kong and we are delighted to invite Takahashi Mizuki, Executive Director and Chief Curator of CHAT, to present a talk on the transcultural aspects of Japanese cultures and their impact on non-Japanese artists.
Addressing subjects including reciprocal cultural influence between Japan and the rest of the world, gender and cultural politics, and social matters of current importance, Takahashi Mizuki has worked extensively as a contemporary art curator in Japan on exhibitions focussing on manga, architecture, performance, film, music and visual art.
This online talk event expands on her involvement in curating the successful show of Sudō Reiko’s textiles in 2019 in Hong Kong and delves deeper into her curatorial experience at Art Tower Mito, where she curated the solo shows of British artists such as Julian Opie and Darren Almond, whose artistic productions have been influenced by Japan.
During this live online event, there is an opportunity for registered guests to ask questions to the speaker.
