Between the years of 1924 and 1937 many theatres in Central London were constructed or remodelled in a spectacular style we have come to know as Art Deco.
In particular, eight new theatres were completed within 13 months, spanning October 1929 to November 1930, with opening nights often being within weeks of each other.
This live presentation takes you on a virtual tour of twelve* impressive theatres and, using photographs and maps to illustrate the details and locations, I'll talk about the unusual design features and the architects who created them. You'll see how the decorative styles of that era changed and adapted over time.
After the tour the meeting room will stay open for questions and discussion.
Please note, this is not a video experience – it is a presentation – I talk about the subject whilst showing you slides containing images and maps.
